Board Member Profiles

Sandra K. Ivory, President
Sandy is the President of our National Board of Directors. She is a member of the Altoona Section in Region 4, and she has served as 1st Vice President (2001-2002) of the National Board, as 2nd Vice President (2000-2001) of the National Board, as National Director of Region 4 (1994-2000). While serving as National director, Sandy was a member of the SCANNER and Public Relations Committees, was responsible for redesigning a new ASHE National Display, helped with the establishment of the ASHE National Website ,was a member of the committee to revise the Section Operating Manual, and headed the committee on establishing a Student/Scholarship policy. At the Altoona Section, Sandy is involved with setting guidelines and implementing a Workforce Development program for the Highway Industry and also works with the Student Scholarship Committee on selecting scholarship recipients.

Sandy attended Pennsylvania State University. She began her career with the Altoona Mirror as a journalist where she worked for 25 years. Then for the next 5 years, she worked for P. Joseph Lehman, Inc. Sandy has been the Marketing Director of Keller Engineers, Inc. in Hollidaysburg, PA, for the last 8 years. "I really enjoy my job and the people I work with and our clients - I'm always learning something new and meeting someone new."

Sandy serves as chair of the Blair County Chamber's Government Advocacy committee. She is a member of the Chamber's Biztect committee and also a member of the Hollidaysburg Community Partnership Design committee.

Sandy and Leo have been married for 37 years. They reside in Ashville, PA. They have 2 children, Christopher, who is 35 years old, and Heather, who is 32 years old. Sandy and Leo are also the proud grandparents of Jacob, their 1-year-old grandson. Sandy enjoys being with her husband, children and grandchild. She loves a great dinner, wine and the table talk, "We all have such great fun!" Sandy also enjoys gardening, quilting, and reading.


David W. Jones, 1st Vice President
Dave is a member of the Central Ohio Section in Region 1. He is 1st Vice President of the National Board, and he previously served as 2nd Vice President (2001-2002) of the National Board and National Director of Region 1 (1997-2001). He also was President of the Central Ohio Section (1994-1995). In 2001, Dave received the Ohio State University, College of Engineering Dean's "Meritorious Service to Student's" award. The ASHE Board of Directors honored him as their "National Outstanding Member" in 2000.

Dave earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Ohio State University in 1979. He began his engineering career working at the Franklin County Engineers Office. Dave worked in the public sector for the next five years, honing his engineering skills. In 1985, he moved into the private sector after founding the consultant firm of Jones-Stuckey LTD, Inc. in Columbus, OH. He has been the president of the company for the last 18 years. Dave is a Professional Engineer in the states of Ohio and Indiana. He spoke at the 1998 International Bridge Conference. His topic was the "Value of Bridge Aesthetics." He also is a member of ACI and the Engineers Club of Columbus.

Dave and his wife, Becky, have been married for 23 years. They reside in Columbus, OH. They have two children, Benjamin who is 18 years old, and Kaitlin who is 16 years old. Dave and Becky enjoy hiking and camping.


Rodney P. Pello, 2nd Vice President

Rod is a charter member of the North Central New Jersey Section in Region 6. He also served as President of the North Central New Jersey Section for two terms. Rod served as the National Director of Region 6 from 1995-2001.

Rod earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Tri State University in 1963. He has more than 38 years of experience in the design, management, and implementation of transportation improvement projects in the New Jersey-New York Region. Rod began his career in engineering with the HNTB Corporation, working there for 30 years. He worked for the URS Corporation for the next three years. Currently, Rod is employed by the Parsons Transportation Group in Newark, NJ. He has been their Vice President/Area Manager for the last five years. Rod is a Professional Engineer in the state of New Jersey. He also is a member of the Consulting Engineers Council of New Jersey, where he is a member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Transportation Committee.

Rod and Constance have been married for 37 years. They reside in Rockway Township, New Jersey. They have two grown children, Cynthia and Christine.


Terence D. Conner, National Secretary
Terry is a member of the Southwest Penn Section in Region 3. He was a two-term President of the Southwestern Penn Section, and he has been our National Secretary for approximately 23 years. As a result of his dedicated service to the ASHE Organization, the National Board granted him an Honorary Membership on April 17, 1998.

Terry earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1961. He began his engineering career in the public sector by gaining employment with the Pennsylvania DOT. Terry worked more than 30 years in PENNDOT at various levels of design and management before retiring from the state. At that time, he moved to the private sector and took the position of Vice President-Western PA with McTish Kunkel & Associates, Inc. in Rostraver, PA. Terry has been employed there for the last 11 years. Terry is a Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor in the state of Pennsylvania. He also a member of ASCE, PSPE, and NSPE.

Terry and Diane have been married for 41 years. They reside in Uniontown, PA. They have four children and five grandchildren. He and his wife like to attend plays at various theaters and he enjoys playing golf. Terry also sings in the Uniontown Chorale, attends various church functions, and was the Director of AAA in Western PA, WV, & S.C. Ohio.


Robert E. Yeager, National Treasurer
Bob is a member of the Altoona Section in Region 4. Joining ASHE in 1963, he was a Board Member and President of the Altoona Section. Bob then served on the National Board and became National President in 1974. He has been our National Treasurer since 1975. With more than 27 years of dedicated service to ASHE, the National Board granted him an Honorary Membership on April 17, 1998.

Bob earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1959. He later continued his education at Cornell University in Construction Engineering. Bob began his career as a field engineer with the Harrison Construction Company and then with the S.J. Groves Construction Company. Over the next 23 years, he continued to refine his construction skills with Vipond & Vipond, Inc., earning promotions from Supervisor to Project Manager to Vice President of Construction. Bob switched to the I.A. Construction Company where he worked for 10 years as their District Manager. From 1995-1997, he was the owner of R.E. Yeager Consulting, Inc. He retired in 1997 after working more than 38 years in the construction industry. Bob has an E.I.T and is a Professional Land Surveyor in the state of Pennsylvania.

Bob and Mariann have been married for 46 years. They reside at their horse farm in Hollidaysburg, PA. Bob and Mariann are members of the Zion Lutheran Church. They have two grown children, Susan and Jeffrey. Bob and his wife enjoy traveling around the country in their mobile home so their Yorkshire Terrier can travel with them. Bob is an active member of the Juniata Lodge F. & A.M. #282, the Valley of the Consistory Scottish Rites, the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #212, and the 796th Military Police Battalion Association. Bob enjoys hunting and is a member of the Trout Run Rod & Gun Club in Clearfield County.


Robert M. Peda, P.E., National Director
Bob is a member of the Harrisburg Section and currently serves as two-year Director for Region 4. Joining ASHE in 1981, Bob started his service early as "The Profile" editor for the Harrisburg Section. He served at various capacities in the Harrisburg Section, moving up through the ranks to President in 1990-1991. In 1999, he was presented with the ASHE Harrisburg Section's "Member of the Year Award." With the exception of one year, Bob has been a member of the National Board representing first Harrisburg Section then Region 4 Director after reorganization since 1992.

Bob earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1979. Prior to that, he earned an Associates Degree in Forest Technology, also from Penn State. He began his engineering career with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission working in construction on the roadway rehabilitation program. In 1980, he joined PENNDOT, District 8-0 in central Pennsylvania where he worked at various capacities within the Design Unit. In 1985, he moved to the Central Office Bureau of Design and later the Bureau of Construction and Materials serving in the capacity of Civil Engineer Manager. In 1996, he transferred to the Bureau of Maintenance and Operations and later became Bureau Director. Bob is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania and is active in his profession at the national level, including serving on various committees at the Transportation Research Board, National Partnership for Highway Quality Steering Committee, Transportation Curriculum Coordination Council, and the AASHTO Sub-Committee on Maintenance.

Bob and his wife, Patricia, have been married for 18 years. They reside in Hummelstown, PA, and have two children, Brian who is 15 years old and Ashley who is 11 years old. Bob and Patti are both involved in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The family loves vacationing at the seashore, hiking, and enjoyed a recent trip to Juneau, Alaska.
